Shiatsu (指圧) is a form of body work. In English Shiatsu translates as 'finger pressure'; Shi 指 - finger, Atsu 圧 - pressure.

We use the palm, finger, elbow and knee to stimulate your body. The style of Shiatsu I practice is called "Zen Shiatsu", formed by Shizuto Masunaga in 1960's Japan.

I diagnose your hara (abdomen) to see which meridians
(経路 keiraku, there are 12 of them!) or channels are overworking and underworking. Meridians are like the streams going into the ocean.

Ki (æ°—) or Qi is a source of energy. I interpret energy as a stream of water; if there is obstruction in the stream, water becomes contaminated and the stream will not run smoothly. This will cause a blockage or contamination. Our body works the same way; if your energy is blocked by stress etc, you may start to suffer from anxiety, insomina or pain.

I, as a Shiatsu therapist, will identify the blockage in your meridians. I will then disperse the blockage and stimulate your body to help self regulate, recover and rejuvenate.
